Kidworks
I was introduced to KidWorks by Donahue Schriber a commercial client whose facilities I have serviced for over 15 years. When this company suffered the tragic loss of their president, Dan Donahue, a new facility for KidWorks was named the Donahue Center in honor of his involvement. After returning home from CalScape 2005, I was inspired once again to call upon my fellow PIA members to donate their time and products to perform a PIA Cares installation prior to the Donahue Center’s grand opening. The plants were so appreciated, and really enhanced the facility.
As my personal donation and support of Kidworks, I maintained the project for the first year after the installation, which opened up the door for me to educate the students about plants. I also had the opportunity to teach a weekly hands on horticulture craft class for a handful of junior high school students. It was an extremely rewarding experience for me, and reinforced my love of teaching children about the wonder of plants.
